UWINDSOR DAILY NEWS: Windsor Law Centre for Cities Faculty Members Win Recognition for Clinical Legal Education

(25 June 2021) Five Windsor Law Centre for Cities-affiliated faculty members are recipients of 2021 awards from the Association for Canadian Clinical Legal Education (ACCLE) for ground-breaking work in clinical legal education.

ACCLE conferred two of its three annual awards to Windsor Law professors. Professor Vasanthi Venkatesh received the 2021 Buhler Award in recognition for the Windsor Law. Migrant Farmworkers Clinic. Windsor Law Centre for Cities Director Dr. Anneke Smit, along with Acting Dean Beverly Jacobs and Professors Vasanthi Venkatesh and Tess Sheldon, were recipients (with Professors Sylvia McAdam and Jillian Rogin) of the 2021 Ferguson Award in recognition of Windsor Law’s Project-Based External Placement (PBEP) program.

“We are grateful for the recognition of the Project-Based External Placement program which allows professors, lawyers, law students, and community members to connect with each other and to work collaboratively on solving complex legal and political challenges,” stated Prof. Rogin in the UWindsor Daily News coverage of the awards. “They place students in community and respond to community-identified priorities.”

PBEP projects have included research support for 1492 Landback Lane, as well as research and community engagement work on municipal climate policy in the Windsor Law Cities and Climate Action Forum.
