AM800 Citybuilding: Holiday Shopping and Local Placemaking with Allie Mistakidis of Whiskeyjack Boutique and Dan Wells of Biblioasis Bookshop

On this week’s C4C/AM800 Citybuilding segment, a focus on main streets and shopping local over the holidays. Two Windsor small business owners –  Allie Mistakidis of Whiskeyjack Boutique, and Dan Wells of Biblioasis Bookshop – join guest host Jon Liedtke to discuss what it’s like to be a small business owner in their neighbourhoods (downtown and Walkerville), as well as some recent holiday placemaking events including the Santa Claus parade and the Walkerville winter and art walks.

Allie, Dan, and Jon discuss how events like these help build community and prosperity in the Windsor community. Coupled with targeted investments in local businesses, these events help not only to spur an influx of business and traffic to main streets in the city’s core, but also to inspire people to slow down and experience all the wonderful things our city has to offer this holiday season. In the words of Allie and Dan, it’s a great time to get out and start being a ‘tourist in your own city.’
