Leamington DSS Ecoschools Climate Action Summit

On 10 December our Cities and Climate Action Forum law student team will be at Essex Town Hall to lead a session at the high school Climate Action Summit being organized by Leamington District High School’s Platinum EcoSchools team.  Catch us at 11 am talking about local climate policy action.

9:15-9:30 GECDSB Energy and Environmental Officer Kathleen Quenneville, How is the GECDSB responding to climate change and how are we minimizing our impact?
9:35-9:55 Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) Climate Specialist Claire Sanders, How is climate change impacting our region? What is ERCA’s role in adaption and mitigation?
10:00-10:20 Windsor-Essex County Health Unit Environmental Specialist Amandeep Hans, How is climate change impacting human health in our region and how can we protect ourselves?
10:20-10:35 Break, Graffiti Walk
10:35-10:55 Leamington Economic Development Officer James Cox, How is climate change impacting our economy? How should we adapt so our economy thrives?
11:00-11:20 Windsor Law Cities & Climate Action – Climate justice issues facing Windsor-Essex County
11:25-11:35 Caldwell First Nation, ERCA and LDSS EcoTeam – Climate Action Collaboration
11:35-12:10 Lunch, Enjoy litterless, plant-based and local food – bring a reusable drink container
12:15-1:00 In committee rooms throughout the facility, high school groups meet with their municipal leaders to understand: How is climate change impacting our municipality? How is our municipality responding? How can we help? Appoint someone to record discussion and a spokesperson to share with the group.
1:00-1:30 Reconvene in Council Chambers to share results of discussions and future plans
1:40 Buses return students to school
